Have these services done at Honda dealer?
07 Accord 4 cylinder with 150k miles. Recommended:
hose replacement kit (found hoses hard / brittle) $709
replace water pump (kit) (found belts excessively damaged / cracked) $651
cooling system service $156 (coolant discolored)
Would you have these done at Honda? Or could I get them done at a Tires Plus (they sent me a $100 coupon)
I would not recommend using Tire Plus as they don't have the people with experience there, I don't care how many ASE certs they have on the walls. A local garage that has been around for a while could save you that hundred bucks easy because the prices you are getting are high if you ask me.
I would also not recommend going to the hyperlink from Iker either.
Dealership service is very expensive and they frequently try and sell people service that is very expensive and only marginal (if at all) needed. I suggest finding a mechanic that specializes in Hondas or Japanese cars that gets good reviews on sites like yelp. You may have to try a few before you find one you trust. If a mechanic ever calls you and says that you really didn't have a problem except for a loose wire or a minor adjustment THAT's the mechanic to keep.
Hi so best spares are the genuine ones.
If you want a bunch of high school drop outs that bust tires for a living messing with your vehicle to try and save $100 good frickin luck with that one!
Which ever had had the better reputation, but if you are doing all that work, do the timing belt too. On Honda's you should be replacing all the belts, hoses, & water pump when you replace the timing belt.
Find a reputable independent Honda or Japanese repair facility. Additionally, if you are doing the water pump, may as well do the timing belt.
Modern hoses do not need replacement because they are synthetic rubber.EPDM rubber also makes the door gaskets. I have a 25 year old Honda with the original hoses. There's a secret rule in auto repair that one takes the total value of the car and then charges one-half that amount for the repairs.Beware when somebody uses fear to control you.
Ouch! Mine is an 07 and NO, I would not go to Honda. My choice would be to ask at an autoparts store like NAPA OR LORDCO and get some prices from them.
On the parts you just named. Compare prices.
A hard hose is not a concern, a soft squishy lower hose is. They last about 7 years.
Water pump is a concern when it leaves a puddle of coolant under it. Then it is leaking. Not a day before.
"V" belts will crack and start to fall apart after 7 years. These are the belts that turn the alternator and the power steering pump and A/C. That is about their normal lifespan. So ask for prices from the autopart stores.
Coolant should always be discolored if you use antifreeze it will be blue.
If you need a waterpump, you can probably pick up a rebuilt one cheaper than what HONDA is offering you. In fact, Betting on it.
A bunch of high school drop outs that bust tires for a living sometimes know more than Honda Mechanics because these kids HOT ROD AND RACE their cars(so they push the extremes). So Honda Mechanics may go by the book, the kids know how to fix stuff by getting their hands "Dirty". I would not worry about them because the shop should have a return it if it is still broken policy… And they inspect every car that leaves their facility by a qualified experienced mechanic.

- I have a 2014 Honda. I bought the battery 2 years ago from the dealer? Last night I went to start it and it made the machine gun sound, got a neighbor to jump me and it worked fine. This morning it also started first try, So, WHat happened last night and will it happen again? Do I need to take action so I won't get stranded?
- Will these rims fit these tires? I have a honda s2k and I was wondering if 17" staggered wheels would fit these size tires 17x7 on 225/45/17 17x8.5 on 255/40/17
- Does Dealer have to pay for Dry Rotted tires on a car bought brand new off the lot? I was driving home today when my tire literally collapsed in on itself. The car was bought brand new off the lot of the honda dealership, its barely 1.5 years old. My tire light did come on but its going from winter to summer here so I figured I'd just needed to put air in them as usual. Should the dealer have to replace the tires on the car if they are in fact dry rotted? I'm pretty sure it is dry rot as it doesn't look like any flat I've ever had…
- Are brake cleaning services necessary for newer cars? I have a Honda Civic 2016 When and how much? I've NEVER done brake cleaning before but they were trying to give me a "brake service" for like $130 for my Honda Civic 2016. Is that even necessary ever and and isn't there just spray for that and which one should I use?
