Honda accord timing belt replacement price?
1998 Honda accord EX V6 and i want to replace the timing belt and pulley kit. How much would this be from Honda to do or How hard is it to do yourself. I'm very Mechanically inclined and can do many repairs myself.
Honda dealers do a "timing belt package" that includes the timing belt, water pump, coolant flush and all accessory drive belts. The package price varies by dealer and geographical location. In Southern California its $549 at my local Honda dealer.
you can get it done for less at independents. If you've not done a timing belt before it will take you about a day to do it in your driveway if you have a complete set of instructions and a full set of tools. The "book" time is about 4 hours using power tools and a lift to replace the timing belt, water pump and cam seal. Most shops go at least 150% of the Honda book time for customer paid repairs.
Hope that helps

- Is it worth buying a 1999 Honda Accord for $1300, but the timing belt is broke? The owner said it broke while he was driving it, but hasn't touched the car since. It's a single shaft, and by the reports I read on honda accords, usually nothing happens to the valves and pistons in the engine. But just wanted to know everyone's thoughts. The car has 200k miles, but had a brand new transmission.
- How much to fix water pump/timing belt on 96 honda accord coupe? So this woman is selling a 1996 honda accord coupe lx, auto, with about 170k miles on it and she recently replaced the radiator but the mechanics apparently told her the water pump/timing belt need to be replaced as well which I'm aware is typical for v4 honda accord. What I'm wondering is would it be worth to buy the car at $700 and get it fixed myself and how much would it be for the labor and the parts? And is the car worth that.
- How much should a timing belt replacement cost at a Honda dealership for a 2010 Honda Accord? Our car is in for some work where they already have the engine pulled. They said it would cost $750 to replace the timing belt (nearing 100k miles) since they already have the engine out, rather than the $1,200 if we brought it later to get it done. This seems really expensive to me. My wife spoke with them so I haven't been able to find out whether that is just for the timing belt, or if it is also water pump/other belts too.
