I slightly rear ended someone's car today

So i was waiting at a red light to make a left turn and there was a car in front of me. We were both at a full stop. I lifted my foot off the break too soon and my car slowly rolled and hit the car in front. We pulled into a plaza near by and observed what happened. I had zero damage on my car. But my car left a mark on his car in the shape of the nut that's screwed into my licence plate. Neither of us had any injuries. He observed his car thoroughly and we ended up exchanging information (insurance, licences, phone numbers) and i took a picture of the damage to his car. I know I'm completely at fault here. But he later came up to me and asked if we couldn't go through insurance and we'd handle this without involving our insurance companies. I agreed because I feel as if the damage is very minimal and I don't want to risk increasing my insurance rate. So I was just wondering what would be a reasonable amount for him to demand for the damage to his car. He drives a 1999 Honda Accord. The pictures of his car are shown below:I slightly rear ended someone s car today Help

He's not going to get that fixed on a 15 year old car, he just wants some money. Offer him $50, if he accepts it make sure you get him to sign some sort of document agreeing that the matter is settled.

If he gets an estimate at a body repair shop, it will be about $250, So offer him $100 and go from there.

Always file a claim with your insurance company! He could wake up with neck pain tomorrow and sue you. Also if your insurance company finds out you could be canceled. I would not offer him any money let you insurance company work out the details! Call him back an tell him you are going to report it. My advise save you own booty!
