Is 2,500$ a good price for a 1996 Honda Accord?

So I'm about to get my drivers license and there's a 1996 Honda Accord for sale in my neighborhood for 2,500$. The car has 170,000 miles and has a lot of dents in it. There's a long black scratch on the side of the door, below the right headlight it's all scratched up, and on the back door where the tire is there's a lot of black, white, and brown scratches on it. There are 3 other dents but they are small. So is 2,500$ a good price for this 18 year old beat up car? I'm going to talk to my parents about it but I want your opinions thanks!

The private party sale book value for that car in that sort of condition is maybe half what they're asking. Even the book price from a dealer is about $400-$500 lower than what they're asking as a private seller. In other words, it's not a very good price given its condition and age.

Dealer retail for that car is 1400 according to Edmunds estimator. Pay no more than 800-1000 for it assuming it runs good and passes a mechanics check

Yeah, that is way over priced. As they started so high when trying to sell it I'm going to guess that they won't be willing to drop to a reasonable $900 range, which based on what you described is the most i would even consider paying for it. 170,000 is a bunch of miles.
