My 02 honda is not going into overdrive?

I have a 2002 Honda Accord SE 4 cyl and it seems to not be going into overdrive. It is using more gas than it should. Any suggestions on what it could be.

You have used the word "seems" so the first thing you need to do is be "sure".

Is there an overdrive switch? You should be able to tell if it is shifting by using the tach.

Check your tire inflation. I put 32PSI in all the way around on my 2001 Accord.

  • My car alarm won't stop going off in my honda odessey 2004, i do not have a key fob I disconnected the battery cable and that seems to be only solution. But when i reconnect the cable, the alarm still goes off when i turn the car back on. Is there anything else i can do? Would i be able to buy and reprogram a key fob for it to turn off? Please help i don't what else to do, any suggestions would be helpful.
  • My 1999 manual honda prelude does not shift into 5th gear or reverse smoothly? My gears are smooth from 1-4 but then takes a lot of effort to go to 5th or reverse. Also when you get out of 5th or reverse it doesn't go straight into neutral like a normal manual car. They still work but it is very annoying that i have to push it into the gears and pull them out. What could the issue be? Transmission? Shift box? I plan on changing to a short throw shifter in the future.
  • When should i use overdrive? I have a 2000 honda crv, its a 2.0 L 4 cylinder car, its underpowered for its body but it gets around pretty well, i get terrible gas mileage for what it is, I live in a pretty hilly area and my rpms are constantly shifting up and down, should i turn off overdrive when going through these hills to conserve gas?
  • Why is my 2006 honda civic manual transmission going into gear revving up high and moving forward slowly? I'm not sure if my parking brake is stuck or not. It moves in reverse just fine. When i put it into first gear its moving forward very slowly even when i push the gas down all the way.
