My 2000 honda accord is stuck in park?

What the hecks going on it starts up perfectly fine just doesn't shift into a gear its automatic?

I removed cupholder and everything by shifter and tried to insert a key so i can change gears and i'm not sure if i'm doing it right.
Need some help please

Both of these other 2 answers are wrong. If the key turns and your foot in on the brake pedel it should shift out of park. When you apply the foot brake it unlocks the shifter. If it still won't work its the locking mechanism on the foot brake

Could be your alternator failure, turn your ignition on without starting the engine, then select the gear shifter. If the shifter moves into gear then you may need to check your alternator output.

Are you sure the hand brakes are not up?

Have someone stand away from the rear of the car and see if the brake lights come on when you step on the brake pedal. Do you have brake lights?

No: See the under hood fuse/ relay box: Check fuse # 47 (20A), # 49 (15A). If the fuses are good and has power to them: The brake light switch has failed. Replace the brake light switch and recheck. This is how the switch look like:

Yes: If you have brake light and still stuck in park: The most common cause is the Shifter Lock Solenoid has failed. This solenoid is locate under the shifter/ Center console, not too far from where you've tried to insert the key to manual releasing the car out of Park position.

This link is for the SSR vehicle, but the location is the same for your Accord. See the picture:
