Should I be ashamed of my car?

So I was giving a girl a ride home that I work with tonight. She saw my car and said I need a new car. I drive an 05 malibu. It's grey. It has some stratches and the back door has a huge dent but other then that it looks ok. Its not new. One of my uncle's gave it to me like 2 or 3 years. Now I just really want a brand new Honda Accord or a camry 2017 or 2018. Its expensive but I do need something I can ride in be proud of. Would you feel this way also?

What you need is a new Girlfriend.

I've seen people driving worse cars than that. And if that girl doesn't like your car why don't she go and buy her own.

Take it back to your uncle and tell him it is not good enough and you demand a better car.

You drive the car that you can afford. No sense in getting a newer car when you end up eating Spaghetti Os all day.

Well, it does have a big dent in the door and dents never look good, so yep, you should be a little ashamed.

Just fix the dent. Even new cars get dented. Take care of business and man up.

What your co-worker needs is a car of her own before she judges other peoples' rides.

If a co-worker had said that to me when I'm offering that person a ride, I would have, in a very straight-forward voice, said that she is under no obligation to accept the ride in an older but still good working condition vehicle.

BTW, I drive a 12 year old car myself. I realized a long time ago that new cars are depreciating assets and you can save a lot of money by driving an older vehicle.
