Should I restore a 1999 Lexus GS300?

I have a gs300 I've been driving it for about ten years now. It has 400 000km (don't know how many miles). I have never had any problems with It (no major repairs) , some major problems occurred but "disappeared" without any repairing. I don't know how it disappeared, I went to a Lexus dealership to check it and they said I had to change something that would cost more than the car at the time (I forgot what, but I think it was braking system or transmission). Lexus told me that the car would be undrivable in a few months if I didn't fix it. It's been four years and the Lexus is still driving fine. I was scared the car would brake down so I brought a s600 Mercedes and sold it after three years of waiting for the Lexus to break down. I have a Honda Accord a nissan gtr and a Toyota Yaris my wife and I share the cars. I was wondering what must I do with the Lexus. I have a son turning 17 this year, and he's extremely into cars and he definitely wants the Lexus to be his first car. Giving it to him would mean I'm going to have to repair the sunburnt paint, suspension, change all tyres, fix braking system and more. My son has the thought of fixing the thing properly and maybe making it a VIP style or stanced car. So what's your opinion on it? Is it worth it? I would assume fixing price to be 10000 dollars

Ps the above was my father asking on my account, I'm the son he mentioned (Kevin)

If restoring is something you want to do then go for it. You seem to realize that it's going to take time and money to do and will be somewhat of a hobby so, your eyes are wide open going into this.

Take care of the mechanical issues before you worry about the paint.

"I have a Toyota Yaris and a Nissan GTR". Boy, that's something you don't hear everyday. Bottom of the line econobox in the same garage as the six figure performance sportscar. If asking if it makes financial sense to "restore" a 99 Lexus, of course not. However, if looking for a fun project and not too worried about not getting your money back out of it (you won't), go for it.

  • How to restore power to my motorcycle? I have an '85 Honda rebel and it doesn't power on when I turn the key - no light or anything. The battery seems fine (reading 12.4) and the fuses all have continuity. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to.working on motorcycles, especially when it comes to electrical work. Any suggestions?
  • Will a 2000 Honda civic front bumper fit a 1999 civic I'm talking about a 1999 civic dx? • Which car faster? Honda civic si vs Lexus is300 vs lexus is250 vs toyota camry? Mainly speaking for something that has a little *** when you drive it down the highway and sounds like your pushing 500hp haha… Mainly just for looks but which car is faster or even sounds faster?
  • How much does it cost to restore a Honda civic hybrid? Not standard My brother left his car here for about more than 5 years and it's just been pursued eating sun for some time. I need a car and I was thinking of putting some money in and fixing the baby. The tires are blown out, new seats and carpet I think is needed, it also needs the new stick that goes in the middle, radio, etc. I'm not big on cars but how much would it cost to restore it?
