What can solve the problem to a Recurring Check Engine Light for 2001 Honda Accord EX?
The specifics are that the light has been on for a few months starting in June of 2014. Went to nearly every mechanic in union county and even went to a Honda dealer. They would check the light and say that it is either uptream air fuel ratio sensor and downstream o2 sensor. I changed them both numerous times accounting to about $800.00 worth of sensors. Also got the catalytic converter checked and it is said to be good. Only 1 out of 7 mechanics said that it needed to be changed. (Meineke and many trustworthy mechanics claim that the catalytic converter is good) Went to Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts but neither is helpful. Autozone suggested to remove the battery and reset the computer, after every visit to a mechanic and even some at home diagnosis has lead to resetting the battery but the check engine light would come on soon after. Problem was solved on 07/27/2014 when a simple hose was shortened, light was off and remained off for about 70 hours until it came back on today 07/29/2014. Since the sensors are not at fault and the cat is still good, I need help solving this problem without resetting the computer even more, the more i reset the computer the more it will be unready for inspection. What can solve this problem? I suspect that it is a simple gas cap leak but i put and retightened the gas cap but the light is still on, What Else is there to do?
They are All just guessing, and most troubles like yours are caused SIMPLY by dirty IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE and THROTTLE BODY and need a LIGHT tune up with NEW PLUGS! The CONVERTER and o2 sensors are RULED by the addition of AIR by the IAC VALVE which adds MORE AIR as required! MOST cars with STUCK or dirty IAC valves ruin the CONVERTERS in stop and go traffic over time! I USE AMSOIL for this ritual as it DISSOLVES grunge and sludge on O+CAONTACT and LUBRICATESX as well! With key ON but engine off, open hood and listen for a HUMMING NOISE coming from the IAC valve! BAD OIL makes tarry sludge that BAKES into it, along with the T body and other sensors! BYE NOW!

- Check engine light not going off on my 97 Honda Civic even after fixing problem? Cranking and starting my Civic made the check engine light come on and sputter and idle real bad. Figured it might be a bad fuel filter so I changed the thing and now it runs smoothly again but that check engine light is still on. Can there still a problem? Do i need to reset something to make the light go off?
