What's wrong with my car?
I have an automatic honda accord 92. It just today like maybe 30 minutes ago started making this sound. It's when I change gears from park to reverse. Or park to drive. Or whatever gear. It sounds like the transmission is slapping the engine. It sounds like it is about to break. I've heard it's I need transmission fluid. What could this be?
By all means verify the fluid is right, but your description sounds like a bad CV joint. When they reach the point of clunking as you shift forward/reverse they are about ready to come apart… You really don't want that to happen.
Any shop should offer a free visual inspection (only takes them a minute, literally) and if it needs to be put on the lift for a shake of the parts it is often free also. A good price for repair is about $200, parts and labor, per side. For a 1992 rebuilt axles are the most economical approach.
Start by checking your fluid in the trans. The car should be on level ground and idleing in park in order to check the level properly. The fluid should be red in color and when whiped off on a paper towel it should not have any particles or dirt in it. If so, you need to change out your fluid. The car is a 92 so it may have been awhile since last change. Start from there then maybe post up on a Honda forum thats more specific for your car. Hope this helps, good luck
Yes, you have to go to car maintenance station and fill in transmission fluid
- What's wrong with my car's brake pedal? I noticed something a week after I bought this used Honda car (the dealer I trust a lot). It only happens when I'm driving very slow on a side street, when stopping at a stop sign… When I push down on the pedal, the pedal goes down but I hear and feel a slight click before I push it all the way down. So it happens halfway as I'm pressing on the brake. It stops perfect and no break issues. Any ideas what this is?
- What is wrong with my car? The 'S' light is on? My 91 Honda Accord has the 'S' light on and it is in a constant rev between 3 and 4, I drive the car in D4 gear, if I drive it like a stick and start in gear 1 the rev will go down when i switch to gear 2 but not when i switch to gear 3 or 4
- What is wrong with my car's brakes? When I was driving my car today, I noticed that I was having trouble stopping. The car doesn't brake at all until the pedal is to the floor. The brakes seemed a little "soft" yesterday, but I didn't think anything of it. They were perfectly fine 2 days ago. I drive a 2000 Honda Accord with 2 disc and 2 drum brakes. I had my tires rotated 3 days ago. Could something have happened then?
- What is wrong with my car? - 1 98 honda accord shakes and stalls out after about 5 mins of driving but then starts up again after several mins. Check engine light is on.
