Why do they always recommend mundane cars as your first car?
I'm currently shopping for my first car and I get a lot of recommendations for cars from family and friends but they're mundane, boring cars like Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Nissans, Toyotas, etc. I pretty much am set on a luxury car such as Acura (which is actually made by Honda), Lexus (made by Toyota), or Audi. They're all like "Don't go for any of those!" but is there a reason why? I've always heard good things about their reliability and performance.
Call for an insurance quote. And you will get the answer. And ask how much is an oil change for an Audi at a dealer.
Are you buying the car yourself or are your parents buying it for you?
We have no idea your economic situation…
Does this "good job" afford you a luxury car when you are living at mom's & dad's or can you afford a luxury car when you are living on your own paying all your own bills?
I'd rather live on my own then live with mom & dad…
Additionally, are you taking into consideration all the additional costs are luxury car has = higher insurance, higher maintenance, higher gas prices (premium vs regular). It's not uncommon for a set of tires for a luxury car to be $800 at costco… If you don't have a costco membership how much are they? Can can you afford that kind of expense?
Once you start searching for an insurance quote you will answer your own question. Also, an inexperienced driver is far more likely to have scrapes and bumps than average. Far better you put your battle scars on a cheaper vehicle.
As a new inexperienced and perhaps over-confident driver, the chances of you wrecking your first car is very high, regardless of how good of a driver you *think* you are. Therefore, get a mundane car, not an expensive car. Save the expensive car for when your skills, experience, and finances have improved later.
You also apparently don't understand that nearly everything about a luxury car is more expensive -- insurance, repairs, maintenance, taxes, etc. -- especially insurance for a teen driver.
Because "they" assume you were not born with a million dollar trust fund. Troll.
Do me a favor, buy whatever the hell you want. IGNORE good advice. Please.
10+ year old Audi and BMW make great money pits. Buy one.
Yes, troll, Toyota makes Lexus and Honda makes Acura. Did it ever occur to you that LUXURY cars were not meant to be cheap to operate?
Clearly not.
You have no concept of the value of money which tells me you have never worked a day in your life.
Cost of parts, servicing, insurance and gas will kill you.
It comes down to budget.
The biggest reason why you should buy a Honda versus an Audi is the extra cost associated with the more expensive cars. An AUDI for example will cost you mush more to drive and maintain than it would a Honda or Toyota. Insurance is higher, gas(premium) and oil(synthetic) costs more for the AUDI. Honda's and Toyota's don't require either. Repair parts cost more, labor rates to fix them are higher.
If you are "pretty much set" on buying a luxury brand then be prepared to pretty much pay more to own, drive and maintain the car.
The simple reason IS: MOST people soon crash their first car. Wait until you have a year or two of experience and better income before buying a car that's more expensive to buy, maintain, and repair.
- Why are those round type mufflers always mounted sideways? Those round can shaped mufflers are always mounted pointing slightly sideways. Why? And why are they only on certain cars such as hondas subarus mitsubishi evos and dodge neons
- Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
- Why is a Honda Civic always a car of ridicule in the US? I often see these cars in memes. Some say its pretty fast in stock form and able to pick at some unsuspecting american fast cars and others say its the cheap choice of Asian home care employees. I'm getting mixed opinions so somebody anybody compare this car with the cars in the US?
- Why do people always recommend hondas? When someone wants advice on a sports car to get why are there always people recommending honda. Do people realize it's fwd. i meant to add civics.
