Can a 30 year old Honda be driven 80 miles in one go?

I plan on being out of town tomorrow and I wondered if I could do so in my 1987 Honda.

How would we know? How far do you typically drive it? Does it overheat?

Check all the fluids before you go. Make sure you got engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid and brake fluid. When your driving keep an eye on the temperature gauge it should not go further then half-way.

80 miles? Really

As long as it is well maintained and has no obvious faults it should be capable of 500 miles in one go.

Of course it can, provided it's been maintained properly ( can you see a pattern forming) ?

Any car, be it 1 year old or 30 years old, will not survive an 80 mile drive if it lacks oil and water.

We have no idea what condition your car is in.

What condition is it?
I could get into my 1952 Pontiac and head out on a 1500 mile trip and not worry about it

If you have to ask, it might be a good idea to get a rental car.

Before you start it pop the hood and pull the oil dipstick and check the level of the oil. Add if necessary. Check the rad or the overflow tank if it has that and see if you can see liquid in ther. If you can you are fine. Hopefully the brakes have been changed. And the ashtray emptied and you are good to go. 500 miles a day if you have to.

That depends on its condition and how well it has maintained. I just drove my 55 year old Ford 3,600 miles cross country and back in 10 days.
