Can I return a used car I purchased yesterday from a major dealership in Texas?
I just purchased a pre-owned 2013 Honda, with bumper to bumper warranty, but realized I necessarily think I received the best deal. After checking the Carfax, there were two different mileages shown. I mentioned it to the dealer and they advised it was an error. I have also noticed the car may have done mechanical issues, and my car was not detailed or gas filled when i purchased. Am I still within my limits to return?
Nope. You don't return a used car, you don't have the right to do that and the dealer doesn't have to allow it. Your opportunity to negotiate the deal was before you committed to the purchase. Used cars are sold as is, but you should still be under the factory warranty. Use that to get your car fixed. Don't just assume the information in Carfax is accurate. It often is not.
You don't have any room to deal… Especially over the empty gas tank. The dealer will lie to you… In my many years of dealing with cars, they ALWAYS lie…
If you think or have strong evidence that the speedometer was turned back or replaced, then your attorney general can help you with that, but it takes a long, long time.
"Am I still within my limits to return?" - Curious, but what limits are you referring to? You don't have any return period in Texas, no "buyer's remorse" period, etc.
Your time to back out of the deal was before you signed the contract and took delivery. No law says that a vehicle must be detailed or filled with gas, either. That's just a common courtesy most dealers provide.
It's up to the dealer if they want to unwind the deal, but no law forces them to do so.
Not unless it had a return provision and 99%+ do not. CarMax is one of the few places that does.
But they charge extra to make up for it.
4. Can I return my used car if something happens?
Yes. For your peace of mind, we offer a 5-Day Money-Back Guarantee* on every used car we sell. Simply bring back your car in the same condition in which it was purchased, and you'll get a full refund, with no hassles and no pressure to buy another car.
