01 Honda Civic leans and makes popping noise during turns. What's your guess as to why?

I bought a work car, it's a 2001 Honda Civic Sedan EX, with a 5 speed (not bragging, just sayin'). It has just under 200,000 miles.

The car has an obvious lean to the right side, parked on level ground with front tires pointing straight forward. When going around corners, it has a loud clunk/pop noise coming from the front right side. Also, it gets wobbly during gear shifts, even at low RPM's. However, just moving in straight line, it seems to handle just fine.

I just haven't had time, but this week I plan on really inspecting it to figure out what is wrong with it. What would you suggest looking at (besides a new car) to fix these problems?

I suspect that maybe I have a broken strut, or strut mount. I looked at the spring, and visually, it doesn't appear to be broken. It looks like both sway bar links are bad, but I wouldn't think that would cause the leaning issue.

Would a bad ball joint allow the car to lean to one side?

I'm asking for your opinion on what may cause the leaning, popping during turns, and wobbling during shifts.

Make sure to get your wheels rotated by a professional so that your car can even out. However I think that the other issues should be looked at by your Honda dealer

Actually, the sway bar is what keeps the car from leaning when turning. Thats its purpose

Ball joint? Or a baring - Jack the wheel just off the ground and grab the tyre on the top and the bottom try rocking the tyre to se if its a wheel baring, youtube testing a wheel baring or ball joint, suspension etc, if its a baring or ball joint etc take it to a shop to get it done

>The car has an obvious lean to the right side

Probably bad struts All of them will need to be replace this can also ruin your tires by causing abnormal wear

> it has a loud clunk/pop noise

If it is rhythmic it could be a bad CVU joint/axle when it fails (which it will very soon) it will leave you stranded if the axle breaks free it could damage to your brake line and undercarriage. It could also be a bad wheel bearing when it fails it will lock up your wheel sending you into a hard turn or spin depending on your speed.

If it is just one clunk or pop it is probably a bad ball joint when it fails your wheel will fall off.

I hope you mean a car you want to work on not a car you want to drive to work because I don't see how this thing would pass state inspection.
