1989 honda civic head swap?
We changed the 1.5 head to a 1.6 non vtec head. Car is non vtec originally. Now the.car wong rev past 4 thousand rpms. We used the stock 1.5 distributer. Can that be our issue. And should we have swapped the obd0 computer to obd1? Any help would be much appreciated.
Let me see if I understood: Both non VTEC heads. You're putting a 1.6 head on a 1.5 block? Which head gasket did you use? Or you're putting a 1.5 head on a 1.6 block? Again: Which head gasket did you use?
The problem is timing. This link may help:

You failed to mention exactly what motor both are. D15 what? D16 what? Are you mpfi or carborated? What ecu are you using? Its not your timing thats off. My little 1.5 was off a tooth and still reved over 6k rpms.
- Could it be my distributor? 1989 Honda Integra? So I went to start my car and it wouldn't start, it sounded like it wanted to but wasn't getting spark. After checking the spark plugs and leads I narrowed it down to the distributor as the points look really worn down. Could this be what's causing my car to not start? The engines all factory b16a
- What engines can I directly swap my D16y8 Honda motor for? It has to be more powerful and easy to swap? I have a civic with a d16y8 and its served me well but what motor could I easily swap in? I want to use the same gearbox but I don't mind swaping the ECU. The easier the swap and the more HP the better. Would prefer to use the stock manifold and intake etc.
- Is it a bad idea to buy a stock 1989 Honda Civic SI? It has 179000 miles on it, has a new clutch, and looks great. Hes asking 1900. http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/4590735246.html
