2004 honda civic dashboard gauges are recalibrating every time I start the car?

I got a new battery for my civic last week. Ever since, every time I have started the car the gauge needles shake and the odometer scrambles before adjusting to their appropriate places (or mileage). Also, the Trips on the odometer reset each time also. Is this a problem? It never happened before I got the new battery.

Dear abright01,

Wow… They are working properly. Did you not read the owners manual or what? LOL

It is trying to accumulate averages, and will with time. Happens every time you take the battery out.

  • Why are the lights on my 2004 Honda Pilot dashboard flashing? Some of the dash lights on my Honda Pilot just starting flashing on and off every few minutes. The 2 airbag lights, the brake light, service light will flash on and off. I had the radio on, so the radio would turn off at the same time and come back on when the lights went away. I just had the oil changed Saturday. Drove it Saturday and Sunday and nothing happened until this Monday morning.
  • 97 CBR 600 F3 shuts off every time I pull the clutch in? I have a 97 Honda Cbr 600 F3 that has been in the shop for 8 months every time I get it back the bike shuts off after 30 miles of riding it, it does this as soon as I pull in the clutch coming to a stop. That is until I lost compression in the motor and all but one cylinder stopped firing. Does anyone have any ideas as to what happened?
  • Every time I stop to get gas in my 2003 Honda element, it has trouble starting? My car recently had a completely new engine put in and now when I get gas it takes a few tries to get it started. So I put a new battery in and now I have to put my foot on the gas pedal while starting it for it to start. But it's only when I stop to get gas this happens. Every time other than that it starts just fine, no problem at all. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on?
  • Clunk every time I shift into reverse? I have a 2003 Acura RSX w/ 135000 miles. Every time I shift into reverse I hear a loud clunk I sometimes hear it but more faintly when it shifts to 2nd gear. The transmission shifts smoothly and I don't hear and grinding or any other abnormal sounds besides that clunk. What could the issue be? BTW honda/acura vehicles don't have ujoints since iv'e been told before it might be that.
