2013 Honda Civic LX 4Dr driven through water, next day it won't start, no click/ no crank, Any thoughts or advise would be so appreciated?
My husband drove our 2013 Honda Civic LX 4Dr sedan (1.8liter engine) through some standing water(he was forced to because all entrances to our apartment complex were flooded) during a rainstorm the other night. The next day it wouldn't start, no click & no crank but the radio, heat and lights work( and aren't dim). I know we should take it to a mechanic and that is what we will do but we're hoping to try some things at home to get it started so we don't have to get it towed.
warning lights when the key is turned: Low oil pressure indicator, Charging system indicator, EPS, and the Malfunction indicator lamp blinks.
Battery seems ok
Probably sucked-up some water into the engine. Pull to spark plugs out & turn-it-over a few times to get the water out of it, & put in a NEW air cleaner…
Check the starter system connections. Some elements can be dried with a hair dryer. You may have soaked something like the starter solenoid or voltage regulator.
Since water and electricity don't mix, check your Fuses and Fusible Links. Some are good because the clicks are Relays working. If your Headlights work, put them ON and try to Start it. If the lights go out you have a loose connection to the Battery, Starter or Ground. If nothing happens you have an Open Circuit, If the Headlights are not Bright you know the Battery is Discharged and you have to Charge it before it will Crank or Start.
That blinking check engine light does not sound good. Check the trouble codes first.
- My motorcycle will not recharge the battery. Any help would be appreciated? When replacing my reg. Rec. On my 1996 Honda VFR 750 I cut all three wires that lead from the stator to the reg. Rec. Without keeping track of the order. (not my brightest moment). I have since fried my regulator rectifier trying to figure out the order the wires should go. Is there any way to figure out which wire should go where? Any help would be appreciated.
- Bought a 1985 Honda inspector kid told me it needed new battery but started with jump got new battery and it was dead next day? Pretty sure its the alternator just wanted some second opinions also I got the bike for 600 dollars you guys think thats a good deal
- How come my atv won't electric start but will crank if I push start it? 2006 Honda trx. Doesn't have a pull rope only electric start. The starter motor turns over the engine but just won't start but I'll push it down the yard with it in gear and it will fire right up. I'm so confused by this.
- Honda Jazz won't take water in the water fill cap? I recently purchased a Honda jazz 2005 mode from a garage, top condition. I'm going on a long journey tomorrow and routinely like I would with any car I checked the water and oil levels. (cold engine). Water level was halfway between min and max so I attempted to top it up with coolant mix, however, as in poured the h20/coolant mixture into the water tank it just came straight back up as though the tank was full, although I can see it's only half full. Any ideas?
