93 Honda civic won't crank and fuel pump won't prime?
My 93 honda civic dx will not crank and I can't hear the fuel pump prime either. The battery is brand new. All lights and dash lights work. The main relay has been replaced and I've checked all the fuses. What else could be the problem?
The PROBLEM is the car has an idiot for an owner. Take it to a REAL mechanic and pay to have it fixed!
When you turn the key on, check to make sure the warning lights work every time. Also verify the starter is getting voltage from the ignition switch. The ignition switch is probably the most common failure in that era Honda, even more common than the main relay.
Take the air filter out and shoot a blast of starting fluid into the throttle body while holding the throttle open. See if it starts for a few seconds. If it does start replace the fuel pump.
- Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
- Does the fuel pump on a 1994 Honda Shados stay going, or is it only to prime the carbs when starting? My Honda Blackbird is also carbureted with no fuel pump, therefore I don't see why it'd be necessary for a classic style V-twin. Is it on all the time while the engine is running, or is it just used in tandem with the starter?
- How many amps does a fuel pump for a 95 honda civic use? I blew 2 fuel pumps already because I wired them to the a hard line in the battery. Then I installed an in line fuse, but it was a 20 amp so the fuel pump still blew. My guy said a fuel pump uses about 6 amps so I need a 7.5 amp fuse. I'm wondering if I could use a 5 amp fuse because it's a very small engine and fuel pump. Does anyone know what the stock amp draw should be?
- 90 honda civic fuel pump? Where is the fuel pump located in my 90 honda civic? If it is in the tank, do i have to drop the tank to change the pump? Any help is appreciated.
