94 honda civic transmission filter clogged?
Everyone know that this the 94 civic transmission filter is on the inside of the transmission. The only way to change it is to drop the transmission. So instead of doing all that. Is it an alternative to cleaning my filter instead of taking the whole transmission off? Please tell me its something on the market or something lol
If there isn't an inline filter, you can't service an internal filter on a Honda automatic transmission.
Change the fluid. If you have not been changing it on a regular basis then you will need to do 4 successive drain and refills with a short drive between each one. Reason being is that less than half of the dirty fluid comes out each time you drain it.
Do not allow anyone to backflush it.
If there's an inline filter, take it off, blow it out and replace, or get a new one for 20.00
Some Hondas had an external filter too but it was in the cooling lines. I'm not sure if the Civic had one or not but if the internal filter is blocked you are going to have to R & R the trans. If the fluid smells burnt it's time for a rebuild.
To early for a secondary filter on a 94. Transmission is no good probably with clutch material that has plugged the filter. Only way to correct that is to either get it rebuilt or install a used transmission
- Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle
- What will waste more gas, Clogged Cat or Non Cat converter? Does a Honda civic waste more gas if the catalytic converter is clogged or a civic without a catalytic converter (pipe only)? Or what?
- Is it safe to put a K&N air filter in a 2012 Honda Civic? I understand the new Honda Civics have a lot of technology in them and I wanted to know if a filter like that would interfere with the computers or the performance of the car. This is regular Civic, not an Si.
- Dealership won't change my transmission filter? 2002 honda civic 126,000 miles that had remanufactured transmission at 91,000 miles 6 years ago. Now i've done a fluid exchange every 2 yrs since then but i was now going to do a flush for $150 but the dealer says they don't remove the filter because it's sealed. Is this bad to keep the tranny filter in there for 6 yrs already? I want the remaned tranny to last at least 91k like the original.
