Bolts broke off. In head of a 1996 honda civic dx?

I was changing the valve cover gasket in my 1996 honda civic dx. I tighten the hold down bolts too hard so they broke off. The bolt comes out. The rest is stuck in the place where the bolt goes under the cover in the head. Whar should i do? I don't wanna change the head. I have too much invested in it.

Those should not be too hard. You should get a left-hand drill and an easy-out for that size bolts… The helpful people at your local hardware store will be able to help you with that. Spray some penetrant oil, like PB Blaster in each affected hole. Use a center punch to dimple each broken bolt and carefully start the left-hand drill in the dimple. Often the drill itself will be enough to unscrew it, but if not, make a hole deep enough to get the easy-out in. The bolt ends should come out without much of a fight.

The proper torque on those bolts is about 7 ft-lbs… About what you would do with a nut driver just finger tightness. You may have to use a mallet to undimple the edge of the valve cover so it will seal. Sell it. You can try an easy out a left hand thread fluted tool that can wind it out. But if you broke it off by over tightening the bolts it probably won't work. You could drill and recap the holes but if you're not dead centre the new hole will be oversized. There's no easy solution.
