Can a car dealership change the price of a car?

There's a 2016 Honda Civic couple that is 19,650. I saw that the msrp was the same price. But this car is two years old already. Can they change the price?

I'm stunned you call it "changing the price" rather than calling it "making a lower offer' to see if they accept it!
You're every salesman's dream… A naive sucker that's about to walk into the lions den. Best find a friend with a bit intelligence!

The salesmen love customers who have no clue how to buy a car. Sometimes an idiot will wander in and pay the sticker price. That's how dealerships operate.

Change the price? There's no change the price of a used car. The dealer can put any price on the car they wish. But if you offer them less does not mean they will not take a lower price.

Haha the joy of buying a car. They are trying to get you into a new car which the dealer gets more incentive to sell. Be prepared to hear, we bought it too high and can't move on the price or something stupid like that. Also look at the trim, the new msrp is most likely the base model, that used car could be fully loaded.

Yes.

A seller can ask for whatever price they want.

The buyer has 3 choices:
1) accept and pay the price
2) do not accept and walk away
3) try to negotiate another price.

Chances of any dealership having a brand new 2016 honda are near zero. Which means you are trolling.

Do you really think that if a dealer can't sell a car at sticker price they just give them away to bored teens for free?

They could set whatever price they want to set.

Yes.

First of all, the car IS NOT two years old. It's a model year 2016. The current model year is 2017. That isn't two years, that's one year.

Can they change the price? NO, the MSRP is the MSRP, that doesn't change. But almost every cars sold today sell for less than MSRP. That's called negotiating. You have to negotiate a lower price or you will be paying too much.

  • Can I trade in an older car for a new one at a dealership? I have a Lexus SC400 1992 in decent condition. I want to trade it for a Honda fit 2015 or something similar. I need to finance the new car with monthly payments so I'm thinking the sc400 will cover most if not all of the down payment. How does this work normally? Do they accept trade ins this old?
  • How much could I get the dealership to come down on the price of this vehicle? 'm looking at a 2012 Honda Civic Lx for 13,500$. It only has 36,000 miles on it. It's at a Honda dealership. I really like it, but my budget is low. Do think I could get them down to 10,000$? I'm paying cash also. But I do want warranty. Kelley Blue Book says the car is worth 14,329. I'm really thinking that there's no way in hell I will get this deal, but if any of you have had a lucky experience, let me know.
  • Dealership won't change my transmission filter? 2002 honda civic 126,000 miles that had remanufactured transmission at 91,000 miles 6 years ago. Now i've done a fluid exchange every 2 yrs since then but i was now going to do a flush for $150 but the dealer says they don't remove the filter because it's sealed. Is this bad to keep the tranny filter in there for 6 yrs already? I want the remaned tranny to last at least 91k like the original.
  • Can I return a used car I purchased yesterday from a major dealership in Texas? I just purchased a pre-owned 2013 Honda, with bumper to bumper warranty, but realized I necessarily think I received the best deal. After checking the Carfax, there were two different mileages shown. I mentioned it to the dealer and they advised it was an error. I have also noticed the car may have done mechanical issues, and my car was not detailed or gas filled when i purchased. Am I still within my limits to return?
