Can I put a Honda S2000 engine in my civic?
I have a 2000 Honda civic LX and its only a four cylinder and I want some damn power and something to make my friends jealous! I was wondering if I could put a Honda S2000 engine in it? Would it fit? What else would I have to get for it, a new transmission?
No. You can't. And the S2000 is a 4cyl car as well. The F20c is longitude mounted for RWD applications. Your civic is transversely mounted for FWD applications. See your problem here? Trans won't Bolt up either.
Now what you can do is get and H22 or F20b Vtec and mount that in your civic and mount it with the B series transmission. It's a common swap called H2B. Basically your car will out perform most newer vehicles because the way the trans is geared and the H22 and F20b have 200hp. They are known as K killers. It's a swap worth the money.
You'll need engine and tranny, which is designed for rear wheel drive. The whole idea is cost prohibitive even from a performance standpoint. For the cost, you can buy a used S2000. The package works for the S2000 because of the entire package: chassis, drivetrain, powerplant, etc was designed and built to work together. Millions of dollars were put into making the S2000 an exceptional car. A Civic can be made very light but it still won't hold a candle to the S2000's chassis. I would recommend go with a swap like a B18 or even better, K20 and turbo it. You'll get more torque and horsepower, plus it's designed for the Civic's front drive chassis.
Can you MIG/TIG weld? If so, then yes. Because you'll have to make custom engine mounts, cut the interior and floor to make a transmission tunnel, make a custom driveshaft, mounts for the rear differential and have to install all of it.
Even if it bolts up you still need to change the computer and wiring harness to the motor. By the time you get it to work (if ever) you could have bought another ride with a bigger motor or turbo!
You would basically have to put everything new except the exterior. Its easier to just buy a faster car. Your car is only designed to withstand the force that a 4 cylinder can put out, that being said, if you put a 6 cylinder engine in it, it would be pushing much harder on the transmission, differentials, smaller tires etc. If you were to try something like that you would probably strip the teeth on your differentials, over heat your tiny tires and blow out the transmission. When the engineers spent half their life designing and testing this car, they designed it to withstand a 4 cylinder. If you decide to put a huge engine in it, you are going to cause a lot of problems

- Can a 16.L engine fit into a 1998 Honda Civic LX? (before doing engine swap)? I had an blown motor on my 1998 Honda Civic LX, I have new spark plugs, distributor cap and some other items, however, since the old spark plugs happened to be melted as well, I have no option other to do a engine swap. I've been doing some research, and it seems like I only have the 1.6L engine as a option. By the way, the blown motor is a D16Y8, and is automatic.
- Can i put an oem spoiler from a 2dr 01 Honda civic on to my 4dr 01 civic? I have been looking for a spoiler for my 01 Civic ex, and I've decided to just get an oem aftermarket spoiler. But the thing is, I'm not sure if i like the oem spoiler for the four door civic, its just too low, but i do like the height on the 01 civic coupe spoiler plus i think it looks better. I was wondering if i get the oem spoiler for a 2dr civic could it fit on my 4dr?
- Can I put a Honda 1.7L D17A, SOHC VTEC Engine in my 2002 Honda Civic DX? My civic is very basic without VTEC, This isn't it's original engine type as it had a regular 1.7L 4cyl SOHC but I know they are fairly similar. Will my car run on the VTEC?
