Car subwoofer/amp problems?
I have an RE 2000.1 amp and a Polk audio dxi 112 subwoofer in my 1991 Honda civic lx. When I first got the subwoofer(about 6 months ago) , the bass seemed much stronger than it is now. When I try to increase the gain or bass boost, the subwoofer it begins to play a slapping kind of noise. Also it plays the bass louder at first and then kind of lowers on sustained notes.
My main question is if the amp, sub, or alternator in my car is going bad and/or how would I check this.
The gain is not a volume knob, that slapping sound you are hearing is the sub bottoming out cause your gain is too high. The reason your sub is not hitting as hard is cause you will get used to the bass, as for the sub hitting harder at first means that you are probably dropping the voltage from the battery to the amp, that could be a number of things could be a poor ground or poor connection somewhere in the power wire.
- What is the difference between 200 amp and 500 amp in jump start cable? So if i'm driving a perodua viva (1000 cc) malaysia car, is 200 amp enough? what if the other car is a much bigger car use to jump start my car say for example honda or toyota?
- Cost to install subwoofer? Let's say I want to have a professional install a 10-inch subwoofer and amp in my Honda Fit. How much will this cost approximately?
- Do I need to use my crossover w/o amp if the stock speakers have tweeter? Okay so I just bought some component speakers for my 2000 Honda Prelude and i do not have an amp for them, just the door speakers in the front. The stock system has a tweeter/woofer already separate. Can i just simply replace the speakers without using the crossover and how? Or do i need to involve the crossover and how do i hook it all up without an amp… P.S. I just installed an aftermarket radio too so how do i hook up to it if possible?
- What kind of amp and subwoofer do I need? Okay, I barely know anything about cars so. I wanted to know ehat kind of amplifier and subwoofer would i need for a 1998 Honda Civic 2 Door Coupe EX. Is there a certain kind i need. I don't want to purchase one thats blows the windows out the car either?
