Does 2006 honda civic have a timing belt?

Does 2006 honda civic have a timing belt?

Simple thing to find out if you have a timing belt or chain in your vehicle: Yours 06 Civic has a chain.
If you have a plastic cover on the front of the motor its a timing BELT
Metal front cover is a timing chain

According to Honda's website the standard Civic models did not start using a timing chain until 2006 with the exception of the SI models which were a different engine and have always had a timing chain. But PRIOR to 2006 all the other Civic models had timing belts (which have to be replaced periodically).

Edit: See the video:

Yes it does

Liverhuyen2003 is pretty much right but note that pre 2002 Si models also had timing belts. It wasn't until the K-Series engine was introduced on the 2002 Civic Si that they had a timing chain. All Civics since 2006 have a K-Series engine; All K-Series engines have timing chains

Honda timing belt should be changed at least every 100K by an experienced trust worthy person who won't rip you off.

Yes. Indeed! It is not a do-it-yourself repair for an unskilled mechanic either.

Yes it does. Often when replacing is a good idea to replace water pump and seals for crankshaft and cam shafts. Is not job for inexperienced.
