Does honda replace your motor with a brand new one if your block cracks on 2009 honda civic lx?
My friend who is a certified technician at a honda dealership told me that on my 2009 honda civic lx they had figured out that the engines like to crack the block and that hundreds of people reported it and he told me that if the block cracked on my honda civic that they would replace it with a brand new engine because of the problem many people had. My car has 89,500 miles. Is this true? It has the RA18A1 engine.
Added (1). sorry, i meant to ask if they would replace it for free* my buddy told me that because so many people were having the problem they would
That would depend on the reason the block cracked. If it was due to a malfunction or faulty component of your Honda then Honda would take responsibility. However, if the problem was caused by abuse or neglect it most certainly would not be covered.
No - 5 years old and those miles means they will not and do not have to do anything on it.
Yes. Honda will replace the engine block with a NEW one FREE of charge and 2009 is not the only year has crack block. Look at this TSB:

- If one or two ISP's ban a site and raise prices, can a new one rise up and compete? Why? Why not? What about Honda/Toyota? Or ' MCI & Sprint muscling AT&T aside? Anyone remember Nucor Steel? Each of those took advantage of very different situations, each with seemingly impossible odds. Thing is, they were all LEGALLY allowed to compete. How about here?
- 2009 Honda Fit or 2009 Honda Civic? My grandma is getting a new car. She has had a black 1995 jetta for years now. She wants to get a honda. What would you think would be good for an old lady? Should it not be a honda?
- Does Dealer have to pay for Dry Rotted tires on a car bought brand new off the lot? I was driving home today when my tire literally collapsed in on itself. The car was bought brand new off the lot of the honda dealership, its barely 1.5 years old. My tire light did come on but its going from winter to summer here so I figured I'd just needed to put air in them as usual. Should the dealer have to replace the tires on the car if they are in fact dry rotted? I'm pretty sure it is dry rot as it doesn't look like any flat I've ever had…
- Why Honda civic considers one of the most hated car brand in the world? It is affordable and very reliable. Why so much hate on it? @The Freak Show, you sure must be living under a rock. Honda Civic driver has been call the infamous the derogatory term, ricer.
