Head gasket replaced, oil goes low?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic. Less than a year ago I got the head gasket replaced/repaired. Ever since then, when I fill my oil up and drive for a few weeks, the oil is low to almost empty with no signs of oil leaking anywhere. I got my oil changed on the 2nd of June and today, the 28th, its practically empty again. What could cause this? I have also bought a bottle of Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak
You have an oil consumption problem now, this is probably due to "Glazed cylinder walls" this is common if the engine has been overheated before.
The shop/person that did the head gasket repair should have identified that and advised you that the cylinders were in fact glazed or scored, most of the time we can use a "Flex Hone" on a drill to break the glaze and restore piston ring seal to the cylinder walls (If not too severe)
Why would you put in "stop leak" if there's no evidence of an oil leak?
Often once a Honda engine is over heated severely the heads can sometimes warp, also the head MUST have All the head bolts torqued down in the correct order ti the proper spec.
- Would it be, a bad idea for me to try and fix a blown head gasket? Its for a honda. Stock d16 aftermarket rims and is 1500 with a blown head gasket. My dad is the best honda mechanic in my town. He would be guiding me through it. Also the car had 137k miles and good paint. How much would it be worth if it was fixed?
- 2006 Honda Pilot oil stick showing low oil? The car has absolutely no obvious leaks and its not burning oil we bought a new stick and changed the oil but yet it's still (stick only) showing as low oil, what could be the issue? Is the stick (bought new one from dealership ) the issue or can it be leaking out somewhere that's not in plain view? I'm taking it to mechanic next week but I'm trying to see if I could get Tips Here first. The car runs perfectly fine, no obvious issues.
- Motorcycle exhaust gasket need replaced? I just put anew aftermarket exhaust on my 2004 Honda Shadow Aero 750 (vt750c) I replaced the exhaust gaskets. I have rode it twice since and noticed a leak where the front exhaust bolts to the head. The question is when I take the exhaust back off and put it back on to try and fix the leak will the new gasket still be good or should I replace it?
- Worth buying a honda civic si with replaced head gasket? Looked at a 2008 honda civic si that has 73,000 miles the car was flawless inside and out. Then the owner told me it blew the original HG. He took it to a machine shop and then did the rest of the work himself. And now runs fine. Is this car still worth buying or should I walk away?
