Honda Civic 2004: What could be the problem?

Okay so I just got a car from a dealership almost a month ago. Everything worked fine except today. I was about to drop off my son to school and when I press my remote to unlock my car nothing seemed to work so I decided to use my key to open doors. I tried to unlock passanger doors from inside but nothing seemed to work as well. So I sat down and start my car but car did not start or crank. No sound at all and brake pedal was tight and hard as well as the steering well so I thought maybe it was locked so I decided to start again and move the steering wheel like youtube says but nothing. The interior lights still works. I finally gave up after 45 minutes. An hour later I decided to try it again and this time the remote control to open doors worked so I got in and start car. This time I heard gentle cracking sound and dashboards was flashing and then the car started. I turned off and start again and it works fine now. Although it seems to be working fine now I still worry coz I got that car "AS IS". What could be the problem? Btw the radio resetted.

Is the battery original to the car you think? If it is, it is past time for a new one. It sounds as if the batt connection was lost. I would take it to a place and have that checked.

Sounds like the battery cables are dirty or not getting a good connection. A radio will reset when the power is disconnected and nothing much will work with no battery connection. Used cars sit in parking lots so long before their sold and the cable connections corrode sitting. Just loosen the nut pull the cables off clean it a bit with sand paper or a knife and put them back on. The dirt may have acid in it don't get it on you or your close. Just wear rubber gloves or put a rag on it when your handling it
