Honda civic 97 has a possible clutch problem?

My Honda has been having problems starting from a dead stop in first gear. It seems like the clutch is slipping because it doesn't catch and accelerate and the front end rattles and jumps up and down until first gear kicks in then everything is fine. It can be bad while trying to go up hill from a dead stop. It happens a lot but sometimes it doesn't. Lately its been happening more and more. The clutch and pressure plate were supposedly new when installed 3 months ago. What is happening? Please give me you best diagnosis for the problem. Added (1). Thanks for the great information DR. We were told one thing but obviously got something else. The entire engine was replaced and he decided to replace the clutch on his own, we bought the part of course. I didn't see a need for it but figured, why not. I knew I'd regret it for some reason. Now I'm wondering if he even put the new clutch in or if he just took the new part back and made some side money off of us.

Hi simple you only replaced the clutch and cover. What you should have done was replace the clutch release bearing as well. So like all penny pinching ideas this one has come back to haunt you. So it all needs to come apart now as both the clutch plate and the cover have now been damaged and will need to be replaced again along with the release bearing. Failure to replace all three will result in yet another strip down. When done by a mechanic it his time which costs the most. So if it was his fault the release bearing was not replaced then he should a do it and B pay for his own time.
