Honda Civic key programming
I have just recently purchased a 2007 Honda Civic LX from a used car dealership. They gave me two keys; one with no lock/unlock/panic buttons and then the original key with the buttons but i was told that one was not programmed. So I have searched all over the internet and found instructions on how to program the key but it will not work! I have tried several times. And the fob is not dead; the red light blinks everytime i press a button. When i put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2, the greek key light on my dash turns on. When i try to start the car with it, the engine starts but then dies. I don't understand what's wrong!
The engine starts and dies that means only one thing wrong with the immobilizer system: Programming! The system is not recognizing the keys. Your best shot is the dealer or a locksmith who has the proper scanner (Most of them do).
There are two components of your key fob. A remote portion & a key immobilizer portion. The immobilizer is not programmed at this point. Do you have a key that will keep the car running? If so, you should be able to program annother immobilizer key yourself. Otherwise you will have to have a locksmith or some other professional do it for you. - 2014 honda civic keyless remote programming? Ok so I guess I have 2 questions in 1. First is it possible to program a replacement keyless entry remote if I've never had one since I got the car? In other words there's no original id be programming the first one. And 2 is it possible to program the remotes from my 2003 honda pilot which I don't need anymore to my 2014 civic?
- Is programming a remote for a car hard? I ordered a new remote for my 98 Honda after losing mine. I ordered online and it comes with instructions. Will this be hard to program? Do I need to program all my remotes at the same time or just the new one?
- If my 92 honda key isn't working, can I replace just the part where the key goes in, or do I have to do more? They are telling me that with installation, it will be like $300 at least, My friend just had the same problem, but in an much older pick up, but she said they just replaced a small part where they ket goes in?
- My honda civic 04 automatic makes a rattle like sound when I turn the key off? I noticed that when i turn the key to the off position some where under my streering wheel I can here a little rattle like sound. It last about 1- 2 seconds (i hear the usual normal cooling down sound the engine makes after I turn it off. So I don't think its the engine cooling down ) Any ideas what it could be?
