Honda Civic key programming

I have just recently purchased a 2007 Honda Civic LX from a used car dealership. They gave me two keys; one with no lock/unlock/panic buttons and then the original key with the buttons but i was told that one was not programmed. So I have searched all over the internet and found instructions on how to program the key but it will not work! I have tried several times. And the fob is not dead; the red light blinks everytime i press a button. When i put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2, the greek key light on my dash turns on. When i try to start the car with it, the engine starts but then dies. I don't understand what's wrong!

The engine starts and dies that means only one thing wrong with the immobilizer system: Programming! The system is not recognizing the keys. Your best shot is the dealer or a locksmith who has the proper scanner (Most of them do).

There are two components of your key fob. A remote portion & a key immobilizer portion. The immobilizer is not programmed at this point. Do you have a key that will keep the car running? If so, you should be able to program annother immobilizer key yourself. Otherwise you will have to have a locksmith or some other professional do it for you.
