Honda civic vs Toyota Camry?

I'm saving up for a car and I have about 600 so far. I'm only a junior but I plan to have atleast 5000 saved up by the end of my junior year if I work a lot. I want to get a car for about 3-3500 and I've heard civics and camrys are reliable and good with gas. I either want a 2003 civic or 2002 Camry, which one is better? And is there anyway I could get one for under 4000?

The two aren't really comparable. The Civic is cross-shopped with the Corolla, the Camry is cross-shopped with the Accord. Both are very reliable. The Civic gets better mileage, the Camry has more room. There are more aftermarket "go fast" parts for a Civic, as people buy Camrys for reliable transportation for a family or something like that.

A base civic sedan with air and automatic, 100,000 miles books for $5,600 (nada)… Dealer retail

a base camry sedan with 100k books for 7,100.

Both are very desirable… If we had either car at our (down state Illinois) dealership it would not be necessary to discount them more than a few hundred dollars.

I have owned two civics, bought one with 20 miles on it, the other with 115,000 on it… So i'm Honda biased.

2 very different vehicles as the Civic is a compact and he Camry is a Midsize. It depends on your needs, either way both are excellent car choices. Is personally lean towards the Camry due to insurance purposes.
