How to removed roters from a 1998 honda civic?
How do i removed roters from a 1998 honda civic?
I believe that when you remove the wheels, then all that hold the rotors on are the brake calipers.
Squeeze the pads back just a bit to loosen them, and they remove the 2 bolts holding the calipers on.
Slide them off the rotor, and make sure to put something under them or wire them up, so they are not hanging on the hoses. I believe the rotors then come right off. If not there may be a large philips screw or other threaded pin to remove as well.
Jack it up, block it up from falling, remove the tire! Now remove the brake caliper but don, t disconnect the hose and wire the caliper up to take the strain off the brake hose and then pull the rotor off! Do one wheel at a time! If your replacing the rotors with new ones don, t forget to use brake cleaner on the new rotors!
IF the rotors are anything like the Accord of that year, there will be two screws holding it on. An impact driver works well.
Once the wheels and calipers are off along with the single screw that holds the rotor onto its mate down the assembly line, it can be smacked with a rubber mallet to get it to come free.

- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
