Have your mechanic check it out

Do you have a question? You didn't actually ask one.

I highly doubt the two events are related if that's what you want to know. Your car is 17 years old.

Everything was fine just before it wasn't? That's kind of common. Diagnose problem and you'll have a clue of what and why.

So get it looked at by a mechanic.

Check the codes at a car parts store or see your mechanic to investigate the "money" light.

And?

The test only runs the car without any adjustments or other tampering, so you can't blame the test. Get it scanned and repaired.

The OBD2 code will lead to what the problem is. Probably a loose gas cap. Tighten that. If the code P03xx comes up, press all the spark plug wires tight. What is the light on for? You have to pull the codes to find out. Car part stores do that free. Write down the code verbatim and look up the definition. You can look them up here

Then be happy you passed. Now go to an auto parts store and have the codes read for free.
