Is a Honda Civic SI Sedan a good first car?
I really love the car and it's not a bad price, compared to many other cars my siblings have looked at. I won't be getting the car right away. I'm going to be driving my sister's old car, which is stick shift. So, I'll learn how to manage a stick shift. I'm going to get my permit soon and just want something for Senior year. I have always wanted a horse, but I've talked to my parents. They would pay for the car, while I have to budget the right way for a horse. Which means, I'm going to have to make sacrifices.
Only things I'm concerned about is:
- SI Sedans have high insurance costs. Is this true? I'm going to talk to my dad and a car dealer, once I'm ready for my own car.
- Too fast? People are saying it's too fast and others are saying it's perfect for a new driver.
Tips?
It's manual transmission, and I'm figuring out what type of gas it needs. It's a 2014 Honda Civic SI Sedan, but I wouldn't be getting it until 2016. I'm new into cars, and really just want to know every detail. I'll be doing a lot of research, but I need tips. Please don't be rude!
I think the only downfall about this car is that it might require premium fuel but I'm not 100% positive. Look in the gas filler area or in the book to be sure. If it has a VTEC engine, it would be a good idea anyway
Yes it will be an awesome car especially since its a standard you will have a lot of fun too!
It's a good car but not a very good first car. You have to understand that as a new driver you have a 60% chance of crashing the car. It is not about being a good or bad driver but about the steep and unforgiving learning curve for driving in traffic. Insurance payments will reflect that as well - new drivers often pay more in insurance than in car payments for sporty cars.
New drivers need old cars. I always recommend an older Focus; cheap to buy, cheap to own, cheap to insure. After three years you will be ready for a car you want rather than a car you need. In that time you will probably see your car hauled to the wrecking yard at least once.
- Is a sedan or small SUV a better first car? My parents both drive sedans, but my cousin as her first car got a Honda CR-V. It made me wonder, as a first car, is it better to get a small SUV or a sedan? I was thinking about getting a Honda myself (or a Subaru) so I wasn't sure if a CR-V or Forester would be a better first car than an Accord or Legacy. Which one would you get?
- Is a Jeep Wrangler a good first car? Or Honda Civic? I'm a 19 year old girl and looking to purchase my first car very soon. I take my license test in about 2 1/2 weeks (late, I know) and I'm debating between the Jeep Wrangler and a Honda Civic. I'd most likely get an older Jeep Wrangler (2007-2013) and I would get a newer (2016) Honda Civic. I love both a lot but am wondering which one would be a better buy for me. Thoughts?
- Is this a good deal. First car? 98 Honda Civic? http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4475499700.html So the engine was replaced and it has 65K miles on it. Is it worth it? And this would be my first car.
- Is a honda civic si a good first manuel car? Ok so my parents want to buy me a $10k car because I just graduated from a military school. I've alwYs love and had a honda so I said what the heck let me get a honda civic si. I drove manuel before and have the idea of how to do it but still learning. Is it a bad idea to get it manuel if I'm just a beginner? Will it last me awhile? Is insurance going to be crazy? I'm a 20 year old who has been driving for 2 years. FEEDBACK
