Is buying a non certified used car worth it?

Recently I have been car shopping and have been looking a many different vehicles. I have done some research on my own but wanted to get some other opinions on this. If it matters the car I have been looking at is the 10th generation Honda Civic EX-T trim. Would it be worth to extra money in the lon run if I try to find one that is certified pre owned?

Certified used cars is mostly a gimmick. Yes, they do go over the car to a greater degree than other cars, but there are so many things that can go wrong, and so many things that their extra inspection can still miss. If it is not a lot extra, in effort or cost, then go certified, but I wouldn't kill yourself trying to make sure you have that. I would also make sure you really read what specifically is included in the warranty. They, often craft it in a way that isn't as good when you actually try and use it.

Certified means overpriced. Sure, they often go over it and fix any glaring issues but you pay for it all and then $2000 more.

You can hire a mechanic for $50-100. Isn't it worth it to avoid overpaying $2000?

Drove by a guys lot yesterday. 2007 Honda EX with 170k for $6995. Seems like $5500 would kill it but I have been out off the car business for 15+ years.

CPO cars are just a marketing ploy by dealers to overprice used cars. The cars are detailed, the fluids changed, the battery is charged or replaced and suddenly it is a CPO car. The limited warranty is almost useless.

What does certified mean? They certify that it's used?

Actually, "certified" just means it's a Really clean used car with low miles on it, that they really didn't have to do much of anything at all before reselling it.

If you check, you'll notice the "certified" used car costs almost as much as a NEW one.
You may as well buy the new one for a few hundred more.
