Is my ICBC basic coverage enough (I'm being sued)?
Back in 2012 I made a left turn and hit some car on the side (back door and fender). I broke a headlight and cracked a bumper (Honda Civic 2002). I admitted that I was at fault and the person I hit (very young maybe 19-22 years old) seemed to be fine at the time because he jumped out of his car running and collecting phone numbers from witnesses. I even asked him if he was OK and he said yes.
A couple of days ago I received a notice of civil claim for his injury. His lawyer claims that he's had closed head injury, neck injury, shoulder injury, back injury, chronic pain, decreased range of motion, loss of stamina, sleep disturbance, headaches, numbness, spasm, … And he's suing me for a lot of things including loss of earning capacity and loss of past and future income.
My third party limit is $200,000. Should I be worried? In the document says that he's a farm worker.
Added (1). I'm a student and my only possession is my car which I bought 4 years ago for $2000. Am I going to jail if they settle for more than my coverage?
Am I going to jail if they settle for more than my coverage?
No, you need to talk to ICBC and find out how that is handled. Worse case, you personally are liable for the amount over and above what ICBC pays out.
- Why does insurance price matter if the car isn't full coverage? I don't understand why my insurance on my 2016 Honda hire than my 2002 Honda. Both cars or only liability coverage. I own both. I don't understand.
- Paying for Honda Loaner Car From Dealership while Paint Recall is Being Fixed? I'm going to be paying $33/day for (1 to 2 weeks) for a loaner car from my honda dealership while its away in the shop. Is there any flexibility in picking what car I want or do they automatically assign me a car. I feel like since i'm paying i should be able to pick what car I want, or even pay a little more for something nicer?
- Does being a security guard have okay pay? I'm planning on getting a cheap motorcycle when i graduate, like a honda cbr 250 off craigslist and I'm wondering if the pay of a security guard would be able to afford its insurance and 250$ of rent per month. (My roommate and i are gonna split it) How much money do you guys think i might have left over? I know this is a extremely broad question but just make assumptions to fill in the blanks because I'm not even there yet.
- How to upgrade my a car without being a ricer? I want to buy a Honda Del Sol or a Acura Integra and put upgrades on either car as time goes on, but I want don't want to be or be known a ricer, I was also considering Buying a 1993 -2002 Chevy Camaro, But The only things I know I want to do for sure is a turbo and a paint job and maybe a a body kit ( Not an obnoxious body kit ).
