Is this too many miles for a hybrid?
I have a 2008 honda civic hybrid, with 320k miles on it with the original engine, transmission, and battery, my friend told me most hybrid batteries don't even last 150k miles and that i should sell mine before something goes wrong, is he right?
I would suggest taking it in and getting everything checked on it by a professional. Just remember- the more miles you have on a car, the less it will end up selling for
That's an argument for never buying a car at all.
You might be better served by getting new friends.
Battery life for the HCH was a real grab bag. In the early years there was a serious problem with battery life and yours is in that category. By the 2009 model year the issue reached a head and Honda started using less aggressive hybrid programming to maximize battery life at the expense of fuel efficiency. A class action suit followed, and Honda paid a paltry $100 to original owners of HCHs within whatever the limits of the settlement were.
The source sums it up best: "Now that it's 2016, anyone who purchased or replaced a hybrid in 2008 or 2009 should begin planning for a replacement." With the vehicle being 10 years old (the 2018s are out) and with 320K miles that means replacing the vehicle rather than the battery pack. With that decision made, and considering it is worth a lot more to you as a (presently) running car than it would be to a buyer, I recommend you keep it and start saving for the next one. It has had a good run and it is not over yet.
- Should I have a mechanic inspect the car I'm about to purchase (2009 honda civi hybrid - 52K miles)? It is at wheels and deals. I do not know if they check out the cars or allow inspections. I know nothing about cars. Should I have a shop inspect it? Or is it okay not to do since I'm buying from wheels and deals and the car has very low miles?
- How many years from the year the motorcycle was built should you hold onto it before the parts become too expensive For example I was interested in buying a 2006 Honda CBR600f4i until I looked up the price of the fairing pieces. Just a small piece of the fairing was over $600. Of course they charge that price because they want you to buy a new motorcycle.
- What is a good mileage to look for in a Honda Civic, Scion xB, and Toyota Prius to be used for a few years without too many problems? I'm looking at the above mentioned cars to be used for 1-3 years, but I do not know the mileage to look for. I d like to know the milage lifetime for each car mentioned, and approximately at how many miles the car will survive without having consistent problems. If you could give me the answer for each kind of car, or even one of them it would be greatly appreciated.
- Too many Kilometers on a 2004 Honda Civic? I'm looking at one listed for $3500, but it has 221000 Kilometers on it(Approx 137000 Miles. Worthy purchase for a first car, or no? Comes inspected, no rust, looks like it's in excellent condition from the pictures I've seen. https://www.nlclassifieds.com/Automotive-Cars-Honda-2004-civic-5-speed-summerford-Newfoundland-NLCId1750456
