My car's shifter keeps popping out of gear?

1993 Honda Civic
My car has recently been pooping out of gear. I think it's the shifter, It goes into gear and then it pops out. It feels like it's slowly getting pushed out. I got a new trans a year ago. Any ideas?

I don't know or care anything about a Honda, but most transmissions have the detent that holds the gears in place and the shifter just moves the gears around. You might have got a bad tranny.

  • Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
  • What is the cause of 2nd gear popping back into neutral? I own a 1997 Honda Civic Ex (coupe) SOHC VTEC that has been having this issue with the manual transmission where 1st gear chugs and 2nd gear pops out back into neutral causing the gear to grind pretty hard. I've come across many forums all giving different reasons to why this happens. I'd like to get a more definitive answer (if possible) from anyone who has had issues like/or similar to this, any mechanics out there willing to send some wisdom and tips my way is greatly appreciated.
  • I have a honda civic ex 98 automatic and I have a problem with shifter? When I put it on drive the shifter moves lil bit which makes it have problem going. The shifter moves and the light were it says "D" dose not go on. When I press the gas it gives me problems because it don't stay in place anyone know what it can be?   • 3rd gear grinds? Replace gear box? 3rd gear grinds? So I bought this '98 honda civic cx(213,000miles) and sometimes the 3rd gear grinds a bit. What would be the cause of it? Clutch slipping? Also the steering wheel shakes when I broke after a certain speed(warped rotors or possibly wheel alignment is needed?) And lastly when downshifting 5th to 4th gear I have to shift slow or else it grids. What could be the problems in your opinion and how much would each cost
