Oil in radiator& reservoir?
I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX. 5 months ago, I had the head gasket, timing belt, water pump, 16 valves, thermostat, spark plugs, crank shaft seal (2x), oil pan, oil pump, exhaust manifold and a crank angle sensor replace. Now, I have oil in my radiator and reservoir. Did the mechanic forget something or can a head gasket blow up in 5 months?
Wow, you had a lot replaced on a not so old car. That must have cost a fortune and something tells me it was not even necessary to replace All those things.
Did he also replace intake manifold gasket?
Oil in the water surely points to a gasket issue. Do you also have water in your oil? Does your car sometimes start up pretty rough?
The mechanic probably didn't do something right because there's no way that wore out so quickly. Sorry to hear about your troubles too!
- What does oil in the radiator mean? I just got a Honda cbr 600 f2 and it had a crack in the radiator cap so I look in it and it had oil in it. I just bought the bike and it runs and rides fine but It has oil in the radiator. I called the guy and asked him and he said he thought it was cracked but he said a mechanic told him it was a seal that was bad. I drove it home and the dude drove it to meet me which was about an hour drive for him. And it rode fine. I'm just trying to figure out what I need to do to fix it.
- Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad? Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
- If in the owners manual it says I should use 5W-20 motor oil, can I use 10W-40 motor oil instead? I have a 2009 Honda Fit. I just recently bought 10W-40 and when I got home to put oil in the manual said 5W-20. What's the difference? And is it okay if I still use the 10W-40?
