Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad?
Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
No worries modern oils are compatible - you can go back and forth between synthetic and regular oil with no ill affects.
Check owners manual if it requires synthetic oils. I'm a huge fan of them, as they work very well and don't wear out (just lose additives and get dirty). I'd drive it a while and do a shorter than usual oil change interval
I took the car to the Honda dealer. He said no worries about the oil, but it would be a good idea to change it back to synthetic oil after about 2500 miles. Two techs at the dealer verified that.
- Roughly how much could I get from selling my hybrid car with a dead hybrid battery? I have a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with about 175k miles. I'm the second owner and there's nothing else wrong with it besides the dead hybrid battery. The battery is very expensive to replace and it's honestly just more of a financially smart decision to sell it rather than spending about 2,000 on a new battery. I just want to know what is a decent price to let it go for considering the hybrid battery is dead ultimately making it useless until replaced.
- If I have an oil leak should I continue to use Synthetic oil? I have Honda civic 1997 lx sedan, I have an oil leak on the left side of the engine. By the distributer. My question is, is it worth using synthetic oil even though there's a leak? Or should I just use conventional oil because there's a leak?
- How to drive a honda civic hybrid car with out hybrid battery? Bought a car about 4 months ago and the battery is now dead. I check to make sure its not the normal battery and Auto Zone said it was fine. I'm sure its the hybrid battery but i don't have the money to pay 1,000 or more for a battery on a car i just spent money on. Is there a way you can drive this car without the hybrid battery? Or dose anyone know a place to get these batteries cheaper?
- Can I upgrade hybrid car performance w/ losing hybrid properties? I have a 2005 Honda civic hybrid. Can I customize parts components electronics everything. And still have hybrid mileage? I'm thinking maybe if the weight the same or less then factory install. It shouldn't be a problem? I'm a car rookie. Don't know much. But I'm learning.
