People think I'm lying when I say I get over 50MPG in my new car. Why?
I bought a new Honda Civic and I often get 50MPG on the highway. I actually got 57MPG on a 70 mile drive but no one believes me? This is a regular Civic and not hybrid.
They all claim I'm lying. Why do they think that?
Added (1). Well the trip computer on the car even says 57MPG and when I calculate it manually, it's almost spot on. When I take a photo and show it, they claim it was doctored or something.
Only 50 mpg? The normal in that car in UK is closer to 90mpg, my wife gets that in hers.
Because it doesn't seem reasonable. I don't believe any of the non-hybrid Civics are able to get mileage that hits past 40 miles per gallon. Either you aren't measuring correctly or you're lying.
MPG inversely varies with MPH.
Because most people either don't know how to get the most mpg from their vehicle and/or don't care… My 2002 Hyundai will get 35 to 40 mpg, and that's with 155,000 miles on it!
They're probably too stupid to understand that fuel economy has variables. For all they know you could've been coasting downhill for most of that trip.
I get over 30 in town stop and go with my Aveo 2011
- Why do some people buy new cars to save gas? It seems like people complain about high gas prices so they go and buy these expensive gas saving cars. Usually a Honda or Toyota hybrid that's about $35,000 dollars. So what's the point of buying the car if you just wasted all that money. You could have just used that money for gas. Don't you think it's better to just buy a cheap $1,000 dollar Honda and save all that money for gas? Because buying the new car you pretty much threw all the money away.
- Why do people get mad over the fact that their cars require full synthetic oil? I work as a mechanic and found some people do not like the fact 2010 and up toyotas and Hondas and almost all 2014 cars and European cars require full synthetic oil. A majority of the anger comes towards toyotas and Hondas. Despite me explaining the increased intervals, they still get angered at the fact. Is it just me or does less time doing oil changes that save you more money in the long run end up coming out cheaper despite the increased price and why would they be angry saving money?
- Why do people buy new cars that are in its final year? Like why do people buy 2017 Honda Accord or Odyssey when they are being completely redesigned for 2018? I mean don't you want the latest and the best technology and not 4-5 year old tech?
- I'm selling my 50mpg car. What car should I get next? I'm selling my Honda Civic that gets 50mpg on the freeway due to it being too cramped. What car should I get next: 1. Honda Element 2. Honda CR-V 3. Honda Odyssey 4. Honda Fit 5. Toyota Sienna
