Should I buy this used car in this situation?
I'm thinking of buying a 2003 Honda Civic used car from a seller online. The car is $400 but needs new brakes, new wiring, and some different things. I went to a few mechanics and they said it would cost about 3000 to repair. Should I buy this car at this price or pass?
Yes you should
You should pass. You'd be better off taking the 3 grand and buy a car in better shape. Leave the fix it cars to guys who fix cars. Also, the 3000 could easily turn into 4 or 5 thousand.
In general never buy a car that costs more work to fix then the car is worth. That being said, if it will pass inspection as is, but it, drive it til it doesn't run anymore, then scrap it and buy another 200 dollar car. If you don't care about luxuries that much, it's a lot cheaper to keep buying junkets when they break them to pay monthly payments on a brand new car.
Think about it, 400 bucks, you get 6 months out of it, that's 67 bucks a month, vs 200 or 300 a month for a new one. Plus if it does you can sell it for parts or as scrap metal, and might even get 1 or 2 hundred back for it
Pass. It looks to me like someone is trying to unload his junk. It is worth about $300 at a salvage yard.
Pass. You may as well spend 3000 on better car.
Pass. You can buy a much better car for the same money.
That's a 15 year old car, at this point it's a gamble. It may be much more than $3000 to fix, and the car isn't worth it.
Pass
SMH You MUST be trolling.

- What would be the cost of car insurance in my situation? I'm 18 turning 19 in a few months, I recently got my G2 and I'm considering on buying a 05 honda civic.
- Should I keep or sell my car in this situation? So I bought a used car about six months ago for $2500 and have been using it. However I just found out that I got a job and will be living in Japan for year. I live in Wisconsin now, but I will come back to Wisconsin in a year. I'm wondering if I should sell my car or store it somewhere. However I don't know anyone to store it for me and would have to pay someplace to store it if I wanted. It is a 2002 Honda Civic.
- Should I fix up this car or re-sell it in this situation? So I bought a used 15 year old Honda Civic with 130,000 miles on it. I paid $1700 for it. However I found out from the mechanic it will cost another 2500 to fix up all the brakes and lights to make it drivable and good. However the ac and radio still won't work. Or should I sell it for 600 dollars to the mechanic and lose $1100 dollars. I know I made an error. But what should I do?
