To a trailer hitch specialist Curt versus Drawtite, Hidden Hitch for Honda Civic?
I have a 2006 Honda Civic 2 door and am going to install a Class I 1.25" trailer hitch, only to use it for installing a 2-bike carrier. The Curt # 11437 is the ONLY hitch for my car that is installed with 2 bolts on each side of the frame. The other brands only have one opening for 1 bolt on each side of the frame. Another advantage of the Curt is that it has a slight "V shape" making it sit under the car further and not be so noticeable. The Drawtite and Hidden Hitch brands look like they have a "straighter" line underneath the car making them look more noticeable. My question is, does having 2 bolts to attach to the frame on each side make it stronger? I would think it does.
What I would do (since I work there) is call your local U-Haul and ask them to look up the hitch for your car and see what it looks like and how much it is (it's probably cheaper than the ones you found).
If both hitches are rated for the same weight then it doesn't matter, also it's only a bike rack, not a 36' trailer, so go with the least expensive. Source: Installed hitches at U-Haul for 3+ years now on the weekends. Mechanical Engineer m-f.

- Trailer hitch install gone wrong? So i have a 2008 honda crv. I had a trailer hitch installed at the place i rented my uhaul before i moved to florida 5 months ago. Now i'm having electrical problems and 1000 dollars later in repairs. The honda dealership has come to the conclusion that the trailer install is the cause and is removing the whole tow package which is another 200. Is there anything i can do about the last shop messing my car up?
- I need some advice on a horse trailer situation? My dad has just bought a Honda CR-V. It can tow up to 2 tonnes. We're looking to buy a horse trailer but we're not sure about whether to get a single or double trailer. Could our car tow a double trailer with 2 15hh horses in it? Or if needs be, we would get a single one as we only have 1 horse anyway, but a double one would be more suitable but we don't mind.
