What do I need for a full tune up on a 96 Honda civic? - 1
Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, maybe a fuel filter, air filter
The term "tune up" is hold over from a period of time when engines actually did require periodic tuning. But modern vehicles ( including your 20 year old Civic ) either have those components computer controlled or those parts are no longer used.
A tune up today basically means changing the spark plugs and perhaps checking the condition of the filters and fluids.
NGK spark plugs, plug wires, Distributor cap and rotor, air filter, PCV valve and make sure to have the valves adjusted. All Honda's have a common problem with tight valves and they need to be adjusted every 60,000 miles.
