What kind of oil for a 2009 honda civic?

I'm going to get an oil change for my car, and I need to know does it take synthetic oil, high mileage, conventional, or diesel? I have a 2009 honda civic

Read your owners manual. The proper oil weight will be on the filler cap, usually 5-20. You don't need synthetic, and I usually don't recommend it. Today's engines run so clean, you can go a long time between oil changes, and there are enough additives to keep it running clean. Rule of thumb… If it's not clean and clear, it's time to change it. If you're in a very hot climate like Las Vegas, or Phoenix, use 10-30. If it's got more than 100,000 miles, you can even go to 20-50 high mileage if it's really hot, and high mileage. Confused? Just let your oil change guy do it.

Synthetic your car is fairly new

Just use the sythetic. Royal purple is best

Use any major brand of SAE 5w-20 weight oil. You can use conventional high mileage or synthetic your choice. Just as important is to purchase a quality oil filter such as Purolator, Wix, or Bosch. I would recommend you use a conventional high mileage oil and change it every 5,000 miles.

  • 2009 Honda Fit or 2009 Honda Civic? My grandma is getting a new car. She has had a black 1995 jetta for years now. She wants to get a honda. What would you think would be good for an old lady? Should it not be a honda?
  • Will a oil pressure sensor cause a 1999 honda civic not to crank if oil is low? While I was driving I noticed it wouldn't go any faster while I was going about 60mph but I felt the transmission spinning and the revs were high I then pulled over and put the car in Park and noticed the engine wasn't on Or Is it seized?
  • Oil Change: Honda Motor Oil Vs Generic oil, does it make a difference? I have been getting oil changes with Honda motor oil for 15 years on my 2002 civic that now has 132K miles. If I switch to a generic $10 oil change garage shop will it still be ok? I know the Honda filters are better then the cheapest generic ones but how about the actual motor oil?
  • 97 Honda Civic is burning oil or leaking oil from this bolt? It has oil building up around the bolt, not a lot but enough that you notice it right at first glance the others are dry what should i do? Unscrew and check the O ring or what? I'm not a car guy unfortunately. It has been burning oil recently it probably burns a quart every 3-6 weeks min or 5-9weeks max. Unless its just leaking somewhere, and this little bolt guy is my first suspect.
