What parts are needed to put an a/c system into a 2000 honda civic dx?

Car never had a/c, was manufactured without it. What are all the parts that i'll need to put it in? Also rough estimate if possibles Thank you

If you have the dealership do it, it will cost more then the car is worth. Aside from the compressor, brackets, pulleys, receiver/dryer, hoses, radiator, heat exchanger, dash control, fire wall box, electrical harness, and other parts, you would have to pull the dash. I strongly recommend that you trade the car in, if you have to have air conditioning.

I agree with WB; the typical private resale value of that car is around $1200 depending on condition, milage, trim etc.

The parts cost etc. Is likely far higher than the cost of selling that one and getting one with AC already installed, if you sell and buy privately rather than through dealers.

I'd guess you would be looking at $300 to $500 in parts from a breakers yard and it involves a lot of work around the engine compartment and pulling out the dashboard as the heating controls, ducting and plumbing etc. Behind that would all need reworking.

Just buy a different car with a/c, will be cheaper.

I'd trade in the vehicle and buy one that has the factory AC installed!

A Lot. Your model may not even have that option. You will need compressor, mount, lines, expansion valve, condenser, evaporator, new interior cooling controls and flaps; possibly bigger radiator, accumulator, filter/dryer,. Idle solenoid;; depending. Also, you will need to borrow a vacuum pump, buy a refill kit and refrigerant, oil, leak stop. By law, you Might need a recycling station, too. Parts alone, $250-$500. To have it done; $500-$1,000 labor on top of that. And this is at an A/C shop, not the dealer.

It will be a hassle, for one thing, finding a similar model with Working A/C (many in junk yard have been in a head on and condenser broken.) I thought of this for my old Chevy as I'm in so. AZ. I'm thinking of a newer scroll compressor if I go for it

Why not try one of these? https://www.ebay.com/...2444069130

Probably best to get a deal on a similar make/model/year with factory AC and sell your old one. Unless you took an HVAC course.

1. Roll down the windows.
2. It would be cheaper to buy and trade in what you have for another car than install an a/c system.

In the late '50s and '60s After market kits to add Air Conditioning to cars were a common though expensive item. I seriously doubt if that sort of kit is even available now. In any case, such a kit would doubtless cost more than a 16 year old car is worth.
