Did somebody try to crank the engine when the battery was dead?
Have you had your battery and alternator checked to see if they are fully functioning, Jo? If so, and they do have their integrity, your starter is failing.
Clean the battery cables and battery posts. Charge the battery with a portable battery charger set to 12 volts, 10 amps, for 6 hours. Then drive to an auto parts store and have the battery and charging system tested. They do that as a free service.
1) Apparently you haven't figured out the asking a question part of the question-answer format here. This is not a question, it is a statement. If you've forgotten how to compose an interrogative sentence, and 3rd grade English book can teach you.
2) Apparently you know as little about cars as you know about english. This is one of the most basic things any car owner should know. It is the symptom of either a battery that is low or it is due to corrosion on the battery posts / battery cable terminals that is inhibiting the flow of electricity.
3) Clean the posts and terminals and see if that solves the problem. If not, the voltage in the battery is low. Get it charged and tested. If it can't be charged fully and / or won't hold 12.6 volts then it probably needs to be replaced. If it will hold a charge the alternator should be tested to see if it has adequate output.
Starter is failing. That's your warning. One these times, it won't start at all and you will be stranded.
Get the battery charged and load tested. Get the charging system checked.
Blame battery first, as it is the easiest thing to replace and confirm your suspicion. Average N.A. Car battery lasts 5to7 years for the cheap $150 battery. If your car is not in the North where the snow and ice is at, then you got the cheaper battery. Very most likely. So if we take it to the max(7) that does not fit nicely, so lets try the minimum of 5. Which also does not fit. But a 5,6,6 fits to the year 2018, so very possible it is battery replacement time. It is letting you know you got at most a couple of days before it stops working all together, so like an empty gas tank, you see to it immediately. 1 Tow home paid for a new battery.
Dbl check the battery connections, it's warm enuf to do that now… The battery or starter solenoid maybe going, it's old enuf…
- My engine makes a weird noise sometimes when I drive? I have 2008 Honda Odyssey DX. When I'm driving, there's no problem up until I drive up a slight hill. There's a cranking/grinding sound ONLY when I press the gas and I'm driving up a small hill. It stays for about 5 seconds and then it goes away. Any idea to what it could be?
- My 2003 Honda hybrid makes a noise in the back when I turn it on? I have a Honda hybrid in really good conditions just bought it two weeks ago and every time I turn it on it makes a noise in the back where the battery is. I live in Minnesota and it's really cold and snowing here so I think that might be the problem.
- My cbr 125 feels very sluggish and starts twitching on mid range, starts exactly on 6k and stops on 7k? Before 6k and after 7k the acceleration is good and quick, before i had problems where the engine would just cut out when hot so i changed the ignition coil with original honda one but this problem is still there, i just don't know where the problem could be, the carb has been all cleaned and a bigger jet to match the new exhoust was fitted…
- My honda civic 04 automatic makes a rattle like sound when I turn the key off? I noticed that when i turn the key to the off position some where under my streering wheel I can here a little rattle like sound. It last about 1- 2 seconds (i hear the usual normal cooling down sound the engine makes after I turn it off. So I don't think its the engine cooling down ) Any ideas what it could be?
