Where is the purge solenoid on a 2001 honda civic dx?

Honda Evap system can be the most time consuming and frustrating systems to diagnose, especially for a DIY'er. On 2000-2003 Civics I've been running into (quite a bit lately due to warmer weather) the "Purge Control Solenoid" not pulling a vaccuum during the PCM evap test. The Purge Solenoid is near the intake on the left side (if sitting in driver's seat). Other than that these cars don't give much Evap trouble. There's a bulletin (which I've yet to see any cars affected by it)on some 2001-2002 civics and it goes as follows:2001- 02 Civic and 2002 CR-V: MIL Comes On With DTC P1457
(Supersedes 02-026, dated April 16, 2002)
SYMPTOM
The MIL is on and DTC P1457 [leak detected in EVAP
control system (EVAP control canister system)] is set.
This condition usually occurs during cold weather

Purge control solenoid on any car is used by the ecm at a determined point after starting to clean the emissions evaporative canister of it's accumulated gas fumes when the vehicle was sitting. Essentially this; your fuel tank is sealed and gas evaporates easily. These evaporative emissions are found to be harmful to the air. If your fuel tank expanded to much it could rupture. So at a point the excess pressure is allowed to leak these gas fumes into the evaporative (charcoal) canister ANY TIME ENOUGH EVAPORATION AND EXPANSION OCCURES.
the purge solenoid is used to clear the fumes and run them through the engine to be burnt thus reducing the amount of evaporated gas in the atmosphere.

  • Motorcycle starter over heated starter and only the solenoid clicked so i rebuilt the starter n tested it with a battery n it worked fine? Put it back in bike and again only the solenoid clicks… Is there a fuse for the starter or a relay i may have blown? 1988 honda hurricaine 1000F i'm ready to hang it up but the bike runs so good when it runs. i ran out of gas n kept trying to start it till battery was dead and that is how it got this way. Please and thank-you starter works fine when hooked up to a battery off the bike. what gives?
  • How much to fix my starter solenoid? I have a 2008 Honda Civic EX. Pretty sure the contacts on the starter solenoid are worn out. I'm gonna have to go to a mechanic so approximately how much would it cost to get this fixed? If it's just the solenoid, can the contacts just be fixed on the part, or should the whole starter be replaced?
  • 2001 honda civic Fog lights stopped working? I installed fog lights on my car but I forgot to ziptie them to the car so the wiring got loose and burned on the engine. I tryed rewiring but I don't know what's wrong help please.
