Is it safe to drive my new Honda CR-V to Las Vegas?

I heard long trip in a new car isn't good for the car

It simply isn't true. A long trip at light loads is a good idea.

There are two camps for breaking in new cars: drive it like you stole it, or gently work your way up. I'll go with what Motor Trend magazine suggests:

Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration.
Do not change the oil until the scheduled maintenance time.
Avoid hard braking for the 300 km (200 miles).
Do not tow a trailer.

Just drive normally. Have a good trip.

Just don't drive it like you stole it and it should do fine.

It's a Honda of course it is dirt bag

No

Those days are long gone, cars on the market these days are ready to roll wherever you want to go

You heard? Everyone always heard ****. Usually it's stupid ****. As this is

Drive there, back might be a prob.

If it's going to be heavily loaded, I'd avoid driving over big mountains. If driven intelligently, a long trip is the BEST thing for it. Don't drive overloaded, vary the cruising speeds instead of driving one speed on cruise control all the way. Do some gentle foot-off-gas deceleration when getting off freeways and avoid jack-rabbit starts. It's probably better to take a nice long ride than stop and go short city driving.

Change the oil and filter.

Break-in is wear-in. Lots of small metal particles are being worn off of the cylinders.

I always change my oil/filter several times in the first 5000 miles. My engines go to 300,000 miles.

  • Are VW new beetles safe cars for new drivers? I really want a VW beetle when I get my drivers license butI ve heard some people say they are amazing cars and others say they are unsafe and unreliable. I would get a model between 2002-2010 for reference. Lastly do they break down a lot? Would I be better off with a honda?
  • Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
  • 03 honda pilot GRV valve sensor needs to be replaced and now VITM-4 light just went on.is it safe to drive? Do I need to tow it to Honda or can I drive it. Honda is a mile away from home. • Got a car, no life and wanna drive away to somewhere new and start a new life but how? I'm older, my parents are getting elderly. My sibling is in rehab and my family onlycares about him. I have no friends, no kids and i'm tired of living in my state for 35 years. Seeing the same ppl, same buildings, ugh. I just bought a new honda and honestly i just wanna get in my car and go. I have no money tho and only have a associate degree. What should i do? Apply to a college out of state? Just leave?
