Why is my oil level going down so quickly?
I have a 2006 Honda crv with about 84k. I have been noticing that it is seeming to go through oil rather quickly. I replace it every 3k. I really don't think there's a leak, but I'm not a mechanic. Just troubleshooting maybe?
Not enough info. How much oil you going thru.leaks.smokes etc. Etc?
If you have a heavy foot, or live where you need to climb hills a lot, it puts a lot of strain on the rings, and they wear faster. Because of the catalytic converter, you won't see any smoke, because it burns it all up. By a lot of oil, do you mean a quart in 3000 miles? That wouldn't be considered an unusual amount. Remember that just one drop every mile would account for that, so make sure the drain plug gasket is correct.
It's either leaking it or eating it.
so if there's no leaks the engine is burning it,
as to why?
that would need a fully equipped shop to diagnose.
You must tell us how much it uses, going through rather quickly could be a quart in 500 miles or?
Need to know how much it burns in a so many miles, understand?
If you say it burns a quart in 3000 miles that helps.
You are probably not leaking oil past the oil rings (on the piston), nor past valve bonnets because, if you were, you'd probably see a lot of blue smoke. If it is a minor oil leak, maybe you won't see the smoke.
You might have an oil leak. If you don't see signs of oil leaking on the ground under your car, it might leak only when the car runs (perhaps from a broken oil sending unit).
Normal oil leaks are from oil pan gaskets, stripped oil drain plugs, timing chain covers (bent cover or broken gasket), or valve cover gaskets.
Try looking under your car when it is idling in park.
- Power steering fluid keeps going below minimum level in my 2015 Honda Pilot? Hi, I drive a 2015 Honda Pilot which I bought in June of this year. Since then, I've had to refill power steering fluid 3 times because it falls below minimum level after a short period. I have not seen any fluid drops on the ground. I will bring the car to the dealership but is there anything I can do besides refilling the fluid again, so I don't have to make tbe trip to the dealership?

- Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad? Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
