Anyone have experience with a 1975 Honda 360 Scrambler?

I have had a couple bikes in the past that I only kept a couple years and sold. Both 650s. I decided to try out a different bike. I wanted something classic and the cafe racers kind of caught my eye.
So I found this 1975 Honda CL360 Scrambler for $2000.00 in excellent shape. I'm thinking about picking it up.
However I have been reading that these bikes were meant for first time riders, and my wife and I are both about 175lbs. She would kill me if she didn't fit on the thing.
Basically I'm starting to question this purchase, it may be unwise? You think this bike is ok? If not could you direct me to a classic bike that might be more fitting?

Bit small and uncomfortable for two. For $2,000 it should be in extremely good shape, or way overpriced. I've ridden two up on my old CB350 and it was hell. You are pushing the limits of the engine, suspension and tires.

I would not pay 2000.00 dollars for a bike that is 39 years old even if it is a honda and i love honda motorcycles. A good bike for you would be a honda cb900 custom. It is a great bike for riding 2 up. They where made from 1980 to 1982.

Check out the 'Girl with Dragon Tattoo' remake from American movie studio. The cycle used there's a Honda 350/360 scrambler rat bike the prop man had extras in stock. Original Svenske movie followed book and was a Kaw 125 dual sport. Tell wife you got her the movie bike- and want some of the movie bed action. Teasing Alert! Price is a bit high- but in some markets like California it has jumped because of the movie and some female riders are getting them, it is a minor 'niche' market. 'Hit Girl' has gotten some young ladies on little crotch rockets as another example of movie marketing influence. 40 year old Honda 360 is not a bad cycle, lots sold and parts available but you need to be into the old cycles to ride them, not really a daily rider now. Unleaded gas is one minor problem besides. I use a 8 year newer CM400 little rat as a trainer for students- it has been knocked over and still runs with duct tape, hose clamped exhaust, Yamaha front end- was a little resurrection for road project a few years back with now deceased brother.

The CL360 Scrambler was a popular bike in its day, but these days it's probably more of a collector's item than reliable daily transportation. If you like the "scrambler" look, with the high side pipes, maybe you should check out a Triumph Bonneville Scrambler. It's a bigger bike with plenty of room for two average sized people, and still has a bit of that "café racer" vibe.

Look for a Yamaha SX650 they were made from 1968 - 1985. There are lots of custom parts for it.

She will kill you.
While you might have fun riding it, 2^ is not going to make it on that bike.

That is about a CC per pound. She is going to kill you.

She is going to kill you.

It is not really a cafe racer (although it could be).

  • What exhaust for a 1975 Honda CB200? The left side muffler rusted through and has a massive hole in it. I would like to have a stock muffler but I can't seem to find an OEM muffler for the life of me. What aftermarket exhaust (if any) can i put on without having to re-jet the carb? Or where can I find a used OEM left muffler? Both stock downpipes are perfect as well as the right muffler. Any help is appreciated
  • Your opinion about this 4-Cylinder Scrambler from Honda (Pic)? If it weigh under 200 KGs then I for one shall be deeply interested… http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/honda/2015-eicma-honda-cb-six50-concept.html So, what about you?
  • How much should it cost to clean a carburetor on a honda cb 360? I'm looking at a 76 cb360 and I found a Mmi mechanic that does work on the side. He said it would cost $150 to go through and clean the whole thing. Does that sound right? Or is that high for a backyard mechanic? Don't tell me to do it myself. I'm not mechanically inclined and don't want to deal with it.
  • What engines will fit into a 1975 Honda Xl125? I have a 1975 Honda do125 that needs a new motor. I just was wondering if anyone is familiar with these bikes and what might fit in it.
